Golden Fresh Farms, a new hydroponic greenhouse for growing tomatoes, lights up the sky this morning along U.S. 33 at the I-75 exit near Wapakoneta. The facility will have tomatoes ready for harvest in March, Greg Myers, Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council executive director, has said. The 20-acre site is the first phase of what company officials have said will eventually be a $250 million, 200-acre facility that will be built during the next 10 years. Parent company Red Sun Farms has seven distribution centers in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico serving retailers and food-service providers throughout North America.
