Lee Ruff from End of the Road Farm in Fletcher explains that it's ideal to heat compost to 140 degrees to kill unwanted microbes during a Lawn and Gardening Talk on Wednesday at the Mercer County Central Services Building in Celina. More than 20 area residents attended the talk. If the compost is heated above 140 degrees, it will kill the good microbes, he said.
