Tornado confirmed

By Sydney Albert
ROCKFORD - National Weather Service personnel have confirmed a tornado touched down Monday night in the Rockford area between Lee, Jordan and Winkler roads.
No one was sent from the Wilmington office to investigate, but NWS warning coordinator meteorologist Brandon Peloquin said the tornado was confirmed by photos sent from Mercer County Emergency Management Agency employees.
Mercer County EMA director Mike Robbins told the newspaper Tuesday morning that he'd seen a definite path through a cornfield and trees snapped, but he wasn't aware of any major property damage or injuries.
Peloquin said details about the tornado such as its strength and path are still being determined.
