Gregory C. Barhorst age 61 of Anna died at 3:20 PM on September 7, 2017 at his home. He was born on February 18, 1956 in Sidney to Clarence & Rita (Caulfield) Barhorst, and they survive in Greenville. On February 3, 1978, in Cranberry Prairie, he married Mary Dirksen, and she survives in Anna.

Greg is survived by his five children: Nathan & Heather Barhorst, Anna, Denise & Todd Gaier, Ft. Loramie, Karla & Troy Schooley, Bridgeville, PA, Andrew Barhorst, Ypsilanti, MI, and Kelli & Andy Zumberger, Anna. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren: A.J., Mia, Jada, Brock, Aly, Braylen, Josie, Trey, Reese, Kenley, Blaine, and Brody, siblings: Kathy Schaffer, New Haven, IN, Phil & Anne Barhorst, Ft. Loramie, Steve & Dana Barhorst, Carmel, IN, Garry Barhorst, Springfield, Sue & Thomas Klump, Cincinnati; in-laws: Janet & Leon Ruhenkamp, Russia, Bernice & Henry Albers, Anna, Elaine & Dennis Bruns, New Bremen, Delbert & Janice Dirksen, Versailles, Marilyn & Pat Bergman, Versailles, Doris Kremer, Versailles, Gabriel & Shirley Dirksen, Maria Stein, Rose & Tom Wendeln, Minster.

Greg is preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Eugene & Josephine Dirksen, and brothers-in-law, Bob Schaffer, and Mark Kremer.

He was a devout member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville, and the church's Men's Sodality. Greg was a 1974 graduate of Anna High School, and was a member of the McCartyville K of C. He was instrumental in the Anna Athletic Programs, and took pleasure in restoring antique tractors. He enjoyed being with his family, and attending any of his grandchildren's extracurricular activities.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, McCartyville from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 11, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 12. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or Hospice. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
