Virgil Post
Virgil H. Post, age 70 of St. Wendelin, died on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in Asheville, N.C.
Virgil was born January 22, 1947 in Celina, to the late Gregor and Esther (Bruggeman) Post. On June 14, 1969, at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater, he married Virginia "Ginny" Wenning, and she survives in St. Wendelin.
Virgil is also survived by his children, Jackie & Greg Tate of Spring Valley, Kim & Mike Nerderman of Versailles, Marc & Teresa Post of St. Henry. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Jake, Kara, Caitlin, Courtney, Danielle, Austin, Brianna, and Alex, and siblings: Paul & Diana Post of St. Henry, Jean & Thomas Yarletts of Columbus, Teresa Ellrich of Virginia Beach, VA, Helen & Gary Kremer of Maria Stein, Irene & Joe Selhorst of North Star, Doris & Dan Hartings of Celina, Linus & Carla Post of Coldwater, Lucy & Dane Riesen of Celina, Lee & Donna Post of Celina, Evelyn & Joe Will of Ft. Recovery, Ron & Sandy Post of St. Henry, Greg & Colleen Post of Ft. Recovery, and in-laws Melvin Brunswick of Ft. Recovery, Gerald Monnin of Versailles, Judy Kelch of Minster, and Sue Wenning of Russia.
Virgil is preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Monnin, and Elaine Brunswick, his mother and father in-law, Raymond & Helen Wenning and in-laws, Bill & Marilyn Wenning and Irvin Kelch.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, St. Wendelin, where he was a bell ringer, former lector and served on various committees for the church. Virgil was a member of the Western Ohio Parkinson's Association, Coldwater American Legion, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served from 1966-1968. He worked at the former New Idea plant in Coldwater for over 30 years, and later retired from Crown Equipment. Virgil loved traveling, being with his horses, camping, & watching his grandkids' school and sporting events.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 25, 2017 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, St. Wendelin. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 24, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, September 25. Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Ohio Parkinson's Association, %Mary Honigford 201 N. 6th St. Coldwater, OH 45828.
