...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EST
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation continuing. Ice accumulations of up
to one tenth of an inch with a quarter inch or less of snow
and sleet accumulation.
* WHERE...Portions of Central and West Central Ohio.
* WHEN...Until 6 AM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the evening and morning commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Mixed precipitation will continue across
the entire area. This will change to freezing rain. As
temperatures slowly warm overnight, this will change to rain by
daybreak on Tuesday.

Field fire battled

A Chickasaw firefighter sprays water onto a hot spot from a corn stubble fire at property owned by Kevin Homan near State Route 274 and Cassella-Montezuma Road outside Carthagena. Firefighters received the call shortly before noon on Sunday. Chickasaw Fire Chief Mark Seitz told the newspaper about 20 firefighters from his department as well as Montezuma and St. Henry battled the 15-acre blaze with eight trucks to make sure it didn't spread to nearby structures or across the road. The fire was likely caused by a spark from a corn chopper being used to make corn flour, he said. Dense smoke made driving in the area dangerous, so both roads were closed for about an hour, Seitz said.
