Jane Shively
Jane I. Shively, age 89, of Celina, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Thursday January 4, 2018 at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
She was born on January 1, 1929 in Bluffton, Ohio to the late Lewis W. and Ruth (Jones) Dukes. On January 15, 1949 she married Wayne F. Shively, who survives in Celina.
She is survived by children: Curtis and Debra Shively, Westerville; Kevin and Doris Shively, Celina; Christine Combs, Celina; 5 grandchildren: Steve (Audre) Shively, Heather Shively, Amber (Joey) Fowler, Michael Combs, and Carrie Combs; 5 great grandchildren; one brother Richard Dukes, Pandora; one sister-in-law Virginia Dukes, Bluffton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister-in-law: Lewis Dukes, Robert and Doris Dukes, sisters and brother-in-law: Ann Greeno, Jean and Jim Grosjean and her sister-in-law Peg Dukes.
In 1946, she graduated cum laude from high school at Mt. Cory. In the fall of 1946, Jane started attending Findlay College where she met Wayne, the love of her life. Her sophomore year she became Harvest Home Queen. She graduated in 1950. Last January she was honored with a bouquet of roses at Findlay College for being on their first girls basketball team which was in 1947. She was a retired teacher from Parkway Schools. She taught Language Arts at the junior high building for 28 years. She enjoyed attending reunions for past graduates she had taught at Parkway. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Church of God. Jane led a Women's Bible Study for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing in the choir, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at the Mt. Tabor Church of God, with Rev. Darwin Dunten and Rev. Richard Van Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Friends Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina and from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Church before services.
Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice in Coldwater.
