Cheryl Heckler
Cheryl L. Heckler, age 59, of Celina, died on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at St. Charles Center, Carthagena.
She was born January 16, 1959 in Celina to the late Carl Leo & Mabel Irene (Sickles) Heckler.
She is survived by her children Brady & Abigail Feltz of Oakwood, and Leah Feltz of Lexington, KY; siblings Susan & Alex Heckler-Pittman and Karen & James Phlipot all of St. Marys; 1 niece; 1 nephew and her beloved dog Pip.
Cheryl was a journalist and teacher. She started at the Celina Daily Standard, then worked for the Florida Today, was the managing editor for the Urbana Daily Citizen. She received a master's in Christian Education from United Theological and began teaching Journalism at Miami in 2000.
She authored several books including "Carpenters Apprentice," "Heart and Soul of a Nation" and "Accidental Journalist." She also taught and published works in Florence, Italy. She established the Reid-Heckler Scholarship for International Journalism.
Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Friday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
