Virginia Widner
Virginia Lela Widner, age 92, of Wayne, Nebraska, and formerly of Celina, Ohio, entered into rest February 18, 2018, at Brookdale-Wayne.
Memorial visitation with family will be at Hasemann Funeral Home, Wayne, Nebraska from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. February 22, 2018. Interment to be held Summer 2018 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wayne, Nebraska.
Virginia Lela Widner was born November 17, 1925, in Wapakoneta, OH to Alvin and Lela (Roberts) Stover. She attended Armstrong Elementary and graduated from Celina High School. She worked for eight years at The Daily Standard Newspaper, being in charge of the paper delivery boys. She was raised in Celina, OH where she met her future husband, John Widner, in 1948, and it was love at first sight.
Virginia married John March 4, 1950, and moved to Waukegan, IL where they raised their two sons, Jon and Brooks. Due to John serving in the United States Navy, the family moved to Redwood City, CA and then North Chicago IL.
Virginia was a stay at home mom, and loved her family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, and reading. After John's retirement, they moved back home to Celina, OH. In 2015, she moved to Wayne, NE to be near her sons and their families.
Virginia is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jon (Pat) Widner of Norfolk, NE, and Brooks R. (Sherri) Widner of Wayne, NE; four grandchildren, Lynne (Adam) Ankersen, Jill (Chris) Barr, Jordan (Cassandra) Widner, and Joshua Widner; seven great-grandchildren, Katherine Barr, Hannah Barr, Ellie Barr, Graham Ankersen, Grant Ankersen, Tenley Widner, and Rylee Widner; sisters-in-law, Mary Buck, and Betty Widner, of OH; brother-in-law, Don Winget of Wapakoneta, OH; half sister Mary (Arthur) Luedeke of CA; several nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, September 10, 2008; brother, Bill Stover; and a sister, Phyllis Hull who passed away the same day as she, February 18, 2018; brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
