Frances Fennig
Frances B. Fennig, age 95, of Celina, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.
Born on August 24, 1922 in West Union, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Leonard F. & Clara (Nagel) Jolly Sr. Frances married Philip L. Fennig on November 7, 1942, and he preceded her in death January 1, 2000.
She is survived by four Children: Phil A. (Cheryl) Fennig, Tiara Roberts, Larry (Susan) Fennig and Barry (Diane) Fennig, all of Celina, as well as seven Grandchildren: Jerry, Rick, Gwen, Mark, Kate, Jessica and Megan; thirteen Great-Grandchildren: Rachel, Cody, Carley, Valentyna, Keith, Kendra, Lillyanne, Lexis, Neenah, Nathan, Malia, Elijah and Bristol; and five Great-Great Grandchildren: Chloe, Noah, Lillyrose, Reese and Jhettlee. Also surviving are two Sisters: Velma Lynch of Celina and Bonnie (Richard) Resh of Richmond, IN, a Sister-in-law, Irene Jolly of Celina, and many Nieces & Nephews, including special Nieces Norma Keller and Nila Clementson, to whom she was like a second Mother.
Frances was preceded in death by Brothers & Sisters: Leonard Jr., Vincent, Allen, and infant Brother Cecil Jolly, Violet Thomas, Virginia Spry and Rosemary McGough.
A 1940 graduate of Celina High School, Frances retired from Huffy Bicycles after 25 years of service, and had also worked for Goodyear in St. Marys. Frances faithfully kept in touch with her classmates and former Huffy co-workers, meeting them often for breakfasts and lunches throughout the years.
Frances was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of God, Celina. She had served her church helping with Bible School, Sunday School, and Church Camp. Frances always said she taught the "Sand Box Kids" at Mt. Carmel. Frances was also an assistant Girl Scout Leader for many years, a member of the Durbin Bean Bake Community Club, and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Celina.
Known for her baking and cooking skills, "Grandma Cookie" will be greatly missed by all who enjoyed her cookies, angel food cakes, and homemade noodles.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 25, at Mt. Carmel Church of God, Celina, with Rev. Mark Wakeland officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling Hours are 2:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, and an hour prior to services on Saturday, at the Church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Mt. Carmel Church of God, Durbin Bean Bake Community Club, or the Cancer Association of Mercer County.
