CELINA - Mercer County Treasurer David Wolters is turning to a nationwide lien purchaser to recoup delinquent real estate taxes.
This is the first time the treasurer's office, which going into 2018 had a carry-forward or accumulated delinquent tax balance of $800,000, will conduct a real estate tax lien sale to recover money owed to the county, Wolters told the newspaper on Tuesday afternoon. [More]

Mercer County elections board discusses new voting machines
CELINA - Mercer County's next voting machines may be paper-based but possibly similar to the current touch-screen voting machines.
Board of elections members seemed to agree during their regular Tuesday morning meeting that a hybrid system may be the best choice.

MINSTER - Village council members approved buying just more than an acre of land to house a new southwest electrical substation.
Members approved the purchase on Tuesday evening after discussing the issue in executive session at their regular meeting.
First phase of school upgrade nearly done
MINSTER - Ninety percent of the district's contingency fund for the middle/high school renovation project has been spent, but plenty is left to cover any remaining costs, superintendent Brenda Boeke said.

Minster swept the team titles at the Minster Classic Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Four Seasons Park.
NEW BREMEN - Sisters Margie Tebbe and Deb Rindler have fulfilled their dream of opening a home-decor boutique store.
They opened Sassy Sisters Designs on Saturday. Tebbe said their grand opening was awesome.
