Ruth Oen
Ruth M. Oen, 81, rural St. Marys, OH died 5:09 a.m. Monday November 19, 2018 at her residence.
She was born October 23, 1937 in Delphos, OH to Clem and Alvera (Martz) Osting. On November 29, 1958 at St. John's Catholic Church in Delphos, OH she married Joseph F. Oen, who survives. They moved to St. Marys where they owned and operated a dairy farm for 50 years until retirement.
Also survived by: son David (Peg) Oen of St. Marys, OH; daughter Marilyn (Michael) Poindexter of Logan, OH; son Daniel (Victoria) Oen of St. Marys, OH; daughter Diane Oen (Frank Ferri) of Columbus, OH; 6 grandchildren: Nicholas (Taylor) Poindexter, Matthew Poindexter, (Allison Klusacek) Scott Poindexter, Rick Oen, (Caitlyn Rockwood), Linda (Brandon) Stoker, Bridget Oen (Justin Nedderman); 3 great-grandchildren Emerson Oen, William Stoker, and Baby Stoker arriving in April. Also surviving are: sister Alice (Omer) Ricker, brothers Carl (Theresa) Osting and George (Jackie) Osting all of Delphos OH, Ralph (Julie) Osting of Seven Hills OH and Sue Osting of Frontier MI.; brother-in-law the Rev. Edward Oen, Carthagena OH, brother-in-law William (Mary) Oen, sister-in-law Helen Wilges, sister-in-law Mary Dull (all of St Marys, OH), sister-in-law Bernadette Schoenlein, sister-in-law Monica O'Dowd, sister-in-law Patricia (Allen) Elsass (all of Wapakoneta, OH), brother-in-law Urban Oen of West Chicago IL and sister-in-law Theresa (Mike) Kleintank of Cincinnati OH; Special Aunt Eileen Martz and Uncle Ralph Hoehn both of Delphos OH. Ruth also had numerous godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and neighbors that she held near and dear to her heart.
Preceding her in death were: her parents, brothers Alvin and Donald Osting, brothers-in-law William Wilges, Leon Schoenlein, Clyde Dull and Leo O'Dowd and sister-in-law Sylvia Oen and step grandchildren Shonda and Louis Fry.
Ruth was a graduate of Ft. Jennings High School (Class of 1956). Faith and family were the cornerstones of Ruth's life. Joe and Ruth were recipients of the St. Finbar Award in appreciation for a lifetime of generous service to St. Patrick's Church in Glynnwood, OH.
She was a board member of the Cancer Association of Auglaize County and volunteered for the American Heart Assoc., American Cancer Society, Noble Township Elections, Noble Community Center, and Auglaize County Soil and Water Conservation.
She was truly a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was well known for her delicious pies, molasses and "Grandma" cookies. She truly enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, friends and special occasions.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 511 E. Spring Street in St. Marys, with the Rev. Edward Oen, C.P.P.S. and the Rev. Barry Stechschulte, con-celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Glynnwood, OH.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. 9:00-10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cancer Association of Auglaize County, or St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
