Lowell Hone
Dr. Lowell L. Hone, 87, passed away December 14, 2018, at Avow Hospice in Naples, Florida surrounded by his loving family after suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
Dr. Hone was born on March 6, 1931, in Celina, Ohio to Phil and Esther Hone, who preceded his death. He was married to Marilyn (Hunter) Hone for nearly 60 years, who also preceded his death.
He is survived by their three children, Curt (Lisa) Hone of Charleston, SC, David Hone (Denise) of San Diego, CA, and Elizabeth Hone-Johnston of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by his granddaughter Sara Johnston of Columbus, OH, and step-granddaughter Tara (Luke) Vandenberg of Charleston, SC, siblings Joan (Jerry) Sielschott of Decatur, IN and Tim (Yolanda) Hone of Celina, OH.
He is also preceded in death by his brother Cletus Hone of Chicago, IL and step-grandson Tyler Stansell.
Dr. Hone attended The Ohio State University and received his MS in Optometry and his Doctorate of Optometry degrees in 1955 and 1978. He then served two years in the Army before moving to Bellevue, OH where Dr. Hone started his Optometry career.
After 15 years they moved with their children to Bucyrus, OH where Dr. Hone continued his career as an Optometrist until he retired in 2002 and sold his practice to his dear friend and partner, Dr. Tom Britton.
Dr. and Mrs. Hone spent their retirement years splitting their time between Bucyrus, OH and their winter home in Naples, FL.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Bucyrus, OH in the spring of 2019 where we will honor and celebrate the joy this wonderful man brought to so many.
