John Reeder
John Franklin Reeder Sr., 83 of Lima, passed away December 30, 2018, at Lima Memorial Health System.
John was born January 4, 1935 in Ottawa, OH to Herbert and Viva (Frost) Reeder who preceded him in death. On June 21, 1952 he married Vivian C. (Staver) Reeder, who preceded him in death in 1982. On June 28, 1986 he married Joan (Frenzer) Reeder who survives him in Lima.
John worked as a machinist at Ford Motor Company for over 30 years until he retired in 1995. He was a avid wood worker, bowler, square dancer and was on the Westminster Fire Department for over 25 years.
John was involved in the Allen County 4-H and fair, the Allen East football announcer for many years and he volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, but more than anything, he loved to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Deborah (Jack) Miller, Susan (Dennis) Piehl, Jennifer (Gary) Kramer, Diana Reeder, Mike (Wendy) Tumey, Brenda Fenwick and Julie Hess; grandchildren Kyle (Kristine) Miller, Jeromy (Janel) Piehl, Chris Miller, Scott (Gloria) Piehl, Brandt (Melissa) Miller, Jason (Brittany) Kramer, Trisha (Eric) Thomas, Danielle (Larry) Clabaugh, Lauren Scarberry, Mitchell (Ashley) Kirk, Megan Hess, Jess (Fred) Robertson, Erica Tumey and Jalen Hess; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mona Cox and Ruth Smith; brothers-in-law, Daniel Young and Dave (Karen) Frenzer; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Danny) Martin; brothers-in-law, Vern Drees and Joe (Carol) Frenzer and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife, he is preceded in death by his son, John Reeder, Jr.; granddaughter, Rachel Piehl; brother, Bill Reeder; sisters, Jeanann Matson, Nancy Young and Mary Jane Radabaugh and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Homan and Ruth Drees.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Chiles-Laman Funeral Cremation Services-Eastside Chapel with Pastor David Burkhart to officiate the service. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Memorial Health System, Cancer Unit or the Lima Memorial Auxiliary.
