Mercer County sets record for eighth year in a row

CELINA - Mercer County has set a sales tax record for the eighth consecutive year, thanks to a robust economy boosted by high consumer confidence, according to county auditor Randy Grapner.
"Our population is very optimistic about the way the economy is going, and they're out there spending their dollars locally," Grapner told the newspaper. [More]

Coldwater Machine sold to company based in Cleveland
COLDWATER - Coldwater Machine Co. officials recently announced the company has been acquired by Cleveland-based Lincoln Electric Holdings.
The company will operate within Lincoln Electric and "will become an important asset" to the company, Coldwater Machine President Tim McCaughey said.

CELINA - A 19-year-old former Celina woman living in Detroit has been sentenced to pay more than $15,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to 13 fifth-degree felony forgery charges.

Auglaize and Mercer County sheriff's deputies arrested two drivers for operating a vehicle while intoxicated during the holidays.
This shows "people are taking care of themselves and getting a designated driver," Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon told the newspaper.
