Rosemary Zwiebel
Rosemary Zwiebel, 90, of Wapakoneta passed away at 8:01 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Gardens of Wapakoneta. Rosemary was born in Auglaize County on June 20, 1928 to Leonard and Hilda (Rable) Oen. Rosemary was a toddler when her mother died; her father then married Edith (Hengstler) Oen whom Rosemary considered Mom. On July 22, 1950 Rosemary married Roland E. "Toots" Zwiebel and he survives in Wapakoneta.
Rosemary is also survived by her three children; Timothy Zwiebel of Dayton, Michael (Mary) Zwiebel of St. Marys, Margery Zwiebel of Celina; three grandchildren, Matthew (Christi) Zwiebel of Coldwater, Jill (Todd) Grayson of Perrysburg, Mark (Britny) Zwiebel of Bluffton, eight great-grandchildren; a brother Tom Oen; a sister in-law and brother-in-law, Donna (Bernard "Roy") Azbell; many nieces and nephews; two aunts Mary Oen of Wapakoneta and Kathryn Dorsten of St. Marys.
Rosemary joins her deceased brother and sister-in law; Charles (Rebecca) Oen; sister-in-law, Edna Oen; brothers-in-law and their wives, Randolph (Milda) Zwiebel and Eugene "Whitey" (Elzena) Zwiebel.
Rosemary was a graduate of the 1946 class of St. Joseph High School in Wapakoneta. She continued her education at Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1949 as a Registered Nurse. Rosemary worked as a RN at St. Rita's Medical Center for 30 years and was the last nurse there to wear the white nursing uniform and hat.
Rosemary was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wapakoneta. She worked many years at the July 4th festival, cooked for funeral meals and assisted at the St. Vincent de Paul.
Rosemary enjoyed reading novels, gardening and taking sight seeing trips. She indulged Toots in taking the family fishing on summer vacation. She was an active member of the Wapakoneta Sr. Citizens until the group disbanded.
The family would like to give special thanks for the assistance of Home Instead Senior Care, St. Rita's Hospice and the Gardens of Wapakoneta for the excellent care they provided Rosemary in her final months.
Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday February 14, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jarred Kohn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 615 N. Dixie Hwy., Wapakoneta.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Rita's Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
