Car strikes cow

A male driver of a Buick sedan reportedly struck a cow on Fleetfoot Road north of State Route 219 on Friday. The injury accident occurred at about 8 p.m. The sedan ended up in the lawn of a residence. The man reportedly was unconscious when taken from the car but came to when put into an ambulance, according to Coldwater Fire Chief Brent Forsthoefel. Forsthoefel said the man was transported to Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, with non-life-threatening injuries. Personnel from Coldwater Fire Department, Coldwater branch of Mercer County EMS and Mercer County sheriff's responded to the scene. A Coldwater police officer also helped block off traffic as emergency responders took action. The cow, which is believed to have wandered from a nearby farm, was killed in the accident. The car displayed significant damage.
