Lonsway earns Big Ten accolades

By Gary R. Rasberry
The Big Ten debut for Seth Lonsway was a dandy.
The Celina graduate struck out 12 to help Ohio State open conference baseball action with a 2-0 win over Rutgers in Piscataway, New Jersey.
The redshirt freshman left-hander scattered three hits, walked just two and struck out 12 in his 115-pitch performance. Lonsway, who earlier this season struck out 11, became the first Buckeye pitcher to strike out at least 12 batters in a game since Alex Wimmers struck out 14 in 2010.
The performance earned Lonsway Big Ten Pitcher of the Week as he improved to 4-2 with a 3.76 ERA. Lonsway has struck out 51 batters in 38 1/3 innings.
