CELINA - No snow fell on the Celina Relays this year.
It was records falling instead.
Four meet records were broken - a pair by Fort Recovery's boys and one each by Coldwater's boys and girls.
The Celina boys won the team title, collecting 105 points. Coldwater's girls won with a score of 102.
BOYS
Behind Celina in the team standings were Bryan (80 points), Coldwater (65), South Adams (51), Parkway (41), Fort Recovery (37), Leipsic (28) and Waynesfield-Goshen (23).
CELINA
The 4x800-meter relay group of Brayden Shaw, Noah Shrock, Ryan McDonough and Jacob Klosterman won in a time of 9:07.40. Also winning relays were the 4x300-shuttle hurdle team of Jaxson Silliman, Grant Grieshop, Collin Harris and Kyler Bourne (2:58.89); the 4x400 team of Bourne, Harris, Chase Preston and Muhlenkamp (3:40.63); the high jump trio of Harris (5-6), Isaac Connolly (5-4) and Cooper Jones (5-1); and Bourne cleared 13-feet to lead Celina's pole vault team to victory.
Celina's 4x100-hurdle team of Bourne, Harris, Grieshop and Silliman were runner-up (1:08.84). The Bulldogs also got second-place finishes from their 6,400 relay team of Ethan Ly (4:46.19, second overall), Klosterman (4:57.94) and Ryan McDonough (5:10.87, 12th); the discus team of Drake Langenkamp (131-11), Nathan Fortkamp (117-6) and Seth Huston (102-8); the shot put crew of Huston (46-9 3/4, top overall mark), Langenkamp (41-6 3/4) and Cole Robbins (39-0); and Connolly (35-7) and Karsen Black (35-3) in the triple jump.
"I think our younger and new guys contributed really well today," Celina coach Eric Wagner said. "The veteran people did what they were supposed to do. Collin Harris had a very good meet for us for never running track before. Kyler Bourne was phenomenal. … Overall, I thought the guys competed very well today."
FORT RECOVERY
Fort Recovery has back the same sprinters who made it to state last season.
They're all still really fast, too.
Fort Recovery's 4x200 relay was without multi-year All-Ohioan Robby LeFevre (ill), but Riley Pearson, Jacob Acheson, Brayden Schoen and Jared Timmerman went out and set a meet record anyway. The group posted a 1:35.13 to break the previous record of 1:35.54, set by Celina in 2015.
The Indians also set a new meet record in the 4x100 relay as Riley Hiser, Henry Knapke, Isaac Knapke and Derrick Schlarman completed the course in 45.14 seconds. St. Marys had held the mark since 2014 with a 45.40.
Timmerman also had the best mark overall in the long jump at 19-10 1/4.
"The biggest part of the relay is the stick," Fort Recovery coach Kylie Moody said. "There's a couple kids who are used to handing off to certain people, so that's a little challenging. But we are fortunate that we have a couple of gentleman that we can interchange and still be successful."
PARKWAY
Parkway's crew of Matt Gaerke (4:45.46, first), Kyle Roth (4:57.49, fifth) and Blake Strickler (5:02.68, 10th) won the 6,400-meter relay.
The 4x800 team of Roth, Strickler, Bruns and Gaerke finished second (9:09.86). That same quartet also was second in the distance medley (11:58.26).
COLDWATER
Jesse Meyer and T.J. Burrows set a new meet record in the triple jump. Meyer (38-10) and Burrows (36-10) had the top overall jumps to total 75-8. Waynesfield-Goshen's 2018 team held the record coming into the day with a 70-8 1/2.
"We certainly had some flashes on the boys side," Coldwater coach Mark Bruns said. "The guys stepped up in the triple jump and got the meet record. We've only practiced once on that. A freshman and a senior combined to set the record. That was pretty cool to see."
The long jump team of Derek Siefring (18-7), Meyer (18-6) and Burrows (17-7 1/4) placed second, as did the 4x300-shuttle hurdle group of Tyler Schwieterman, Alex May, Paul Bushur and Tanner Muhlenkamp (3:03.88).
GIRLS
Bryan (69 points) placed second behind Coldwater, Celina was third (65), Leipsic fourth (53), South Adams fifth (47), Fort Recovery sixth (44), Waynesfield-Goshen seventh (30) and Parkway eighth (15).
COLDWATER
The 4x400 team of Sara and Beth Honigford, Maria Clune and Ava Giere set a new meet record with a 4:13.61 - beating Celina's 2013 mark of 4:16.61.
Also winning for Coldwater was the 4x100-relay crew of Shelby Giere, Steffie Hoying, Katie Noonan and Aubrey Koesters (1:14.05); the 4x100 team of Katie Alig, Shelby Giere, Jessica Break and Mallory Kremer (53.88 seconds); the pole-vault duo of Break (10-0) and Beth Honigford (9-0); and the shot put team of Katie Alig (37-4, top overall mark), Bree Knapke (32-1) and Elise Kramer (28-7).
The Cavaliers got second-place finishes from their 4x200 team of Carlee Goodwin, Shelby Giere, Ava Giere and Maria Clune (1:54.36); the 4x800 relay of Megan Sigler, Sara Honigford, Beth Honigford and Brittany Walterbusch (10:44.94); and the distance medley team of Haley Alig, Megan Sigler, Ava Giere and Brittany Walterbusch (13:51.68).
"Overall, we're very, very happy," Bruns said. "These guys just compete. We saw a lot of toughness out there. We're just really, really proud to be able to do this.
"We had a lot of personal records today," he added. "That was nice to see."
CELINA
Celina's 6,400 relay crew of Emma Lutz (5:51.78, seventh), Kennedy Newell (5:57.33), Caleigh Ross (6:00.2, ninth) and Joscelyn Dameron (6:03.88, 12th) teamed for first place. Also winning was the 4x300-shuttle hurdle team of Brooke Robbins, Kayla McCormick, Kayla Brunswick and Makenna Klingshirn (3:48.62)
Taking second for Celina were the trio of Olivia Rider (4-10), Kayla McCormick (4-1) and Nicole Fennig (3-10) in the high jump relay; and Robbins (9-6) and McCormick (7-6) in the vault relay.
"We aren't as deep as we've been in the past, but we filled in the voids good today," Wagner said.
FORT RECOVERY
The Indians got a win from their 4x800 team of Cassidy Martin, Kierra Wendel, Ava Bubp and Chloe Will (10:37.53). The shot put team of Whitley Rammel (33-4 1/4), Elena Evers (31-2) and Makenna Ellenberger (27-4) placed second.
"I'm pleased with the girls program," Moody said. "The girls program is doing really well."
PARKWAY
Parkway's throwing crew led the way, with Monica Steen (105-0), Alexis Cairns (98-9) and Leah Harshman (90-0) winning the discus relay.
