Vic was a graduate of Minster High School and served in the U.S. Army while stationed in Panama. He was a long-time dairy, hog and crop farmer on the family farm outside of Osgood. After farming, he enjoyed work at the Maria Stein Center in the maintenance department.
In 2009, Vic and Sylvia moved to Texas in search of a more moderate climate. He thrived there while playing cards with new friends at the senior center, taking short trips around Texas, volunteering with a local handyman organization, and tending his beautiful yard and flowerbeds.
Vic will be remembered for his lack of fear when it came to trying new farming ideas, for fixing anything by using any materials he had on-hand, and for singing "Mares Eat Oats and Does Eat Oats" as loud as he could when he came home from church on Sunday. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and restoring old cars.
Many will remember his lanky frame driving around Osgood in his refurbished Triumph Spitfire convertible. He had fun with his kids and taught them that reading directions was optional, working hard was necessary, and eating a large soft serve ice cream cone in two large bites was a good idea. His kind heart and gentle nature will be missed by all.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philips Catholic Church, Lewisville, TX on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Burial will follow at a later date in St. Martins Cemetery, Osgood, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maria Stein Shrine at www.mariasteinshrine.org.
