Some area schools change divisions in football

By Daily Standard Staff
The 2019 Ohio High School Athletic Association football divisional breakdowns were released Tuesday.
And a few local powerhouses are changing divisions.
Marion Local - which has reached the Division VI state championship for four straight years - drops down to Division VII. The Flyers, who have made eight straight championship games, won back-to-back Division VII crowns in 2013 and 2014 before making a jump to D-VI. New Bremen and Delphos St. John's maintain Division VII status.
Minster, the Division VII state runner-up in 2016 and champ in 2017, returns to Division VI. Staying put in D-VI are Coldwater, Fort Recovery, St. Henry and Parkway.
Also from the MAC, Anna and Versailles hold tight in Division V.
St. Marys makes a move from Division IV to Division III, where it will jockey for playoff position with rival Celina.
The first Friday of the upcoming football season is Aug. 30. The state championships will be held in Canton from Dec. 5-7.
