Janet Uncapher
Janet "Jan" Uncapher, 70, of Sebring, Florida and formerly of Mendon, departed from her earthly life on Friday, August 23rd.
Jan was born August 12, 1949, to the late William "Bud" and Gwen Uncapher, who survives in Mendon. Her partner in life, Kerry Burrington, survives in Sebring.
She is survived by her son, Tom Millisor of Rockford, step-daughter, Peg Allen of St. Marys, step-son, Kelly Burrington of Florida, and a grandson, Austin Millisor and granddaughter, Emma Millisor, both of Louisiana. Also, 2 brothers, Dennis "Sam" & Deb Uncapher and Steve & Jo Uncapher of Mendon, 2 sisters, Marcia & Tom Miller of Mendon, and Darlene Uncapher (Mike Vann) of Rockford, and a sister & brother-in-law, Rose & Dave Coleman of St. Marys. Jan was blessed with 6 nephews, 12 nieces, and a very special cousin, Susan Ellis, dear friends, Suellen & George Jones of Sebring, and forever friends, Lou Sullinger of Celina and Rosemary Foreman of Texas.
Jan was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, two great nieces, Irene Apple and Richard & Marcia Apple.
Jan was a 1967 graduate of Mendon-Union High School. She had worked at Teleflex inVan Wert for several years. She also managed convenience stores in local communities, as well as Jacksonville, Florida. Years ago, she was a part-time janitor at Celina IC School.
She was a past member of Mendon Rainbow Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star, and the St. Marys American Legion Auxiliary. Jan was a member of Mendon United Methodist Church, but attended the 1st Church of Christ in Jacksonville, where she lived from 1999-2014. She then retired and moved to Sebring Village, where she resided until her death.
She always enjoyed playing different card games, listening to music, going to the beach, garage sales, and most of all, getting together with family and friends. Whenever she came home to Ohio, she always made the time to see her many friends. Her Sebring friends held a surprise 70th birthday party for her recently, which she really enjoyed.
The family will hold a Memorial Service to honor Jan at a later date in Mendon, as well as Sebring.
Please keep Jan's memory alive by sharing with each other the good times you had with her. She was a kind and compassionate lady, who always thought of others before herself.
