It's nice to be kind

Celina first-grade teacher Ashley Smith helps Elijah Robinson, from left, Michael Mote, Chase Rammel and Gracelyn Koester solve a task that's part of the Unlocking Kindness challenge. Students completed four kindness tasks. After each was finished, they received a key to unlock the next box. Their final box contained their reward - a pizza and taco party. All the ways they learned to show kindness in real-life situations were a greater reward, Smith said. The activity is part of the national Rock Your School Day that encourages teachers to do ordinary activities in an extraordinary way.
