Farmer leaves with decades of service

WAPAKONETA - Two Republicans are running in the March 17 primary election to fill retiring Auglaize County Commissioner Don Regula's seat.
According to the preliminary list of petitions and issues provided by the Auglaize County Board of Elections, Wapakoneta resident Steve Henderson and New Knoxville resident David Bambauer have filed petitions to run. Incumbent commissioner John Bergman is running unopposed. [More]

CELINA - Members of Mercer County's political establishment will likely be challenged in the primary election on March 17.
The filing deadline for issues and candidates to appear on the primary ballot was 4 p.m. Wednesday. Board of elections members will convene at 3 p.m. Monday to certify petitions ahead of the secretary of state's Dec. 30 certification deadline. [More]

CELINA - City council members this week passed the 2020 budget, which sets aside a total of $49.18 million for all city accounts.
They'll start the new year on solid financial footing as city auditor Betty Strawn anticipates a $4.16 million general fund carryover.
Hospital's rate could increase $1.9M to $2.4M
COLDWATER - Mercer County Community Hospital has been named a Medicare Dependent Hospital, which could increase the hospital's Medicare payment rate by $1.9 million to $2.4 million per year.
CELINA - Police are looking for a missing teenager who did not return to his mother's residence after a family disagreement on Tuesday, according to a news release.
MONTEZUMA - Village council members unanimously voted to appoint Steve Fortman to continue as mayor.
Fortman's four-year term will begin in 2020. Three members approved the appointment. Councilors Monica and Derrick Springer were not present at the meeting.
WAPAKONETA - West Ohio Community Action Partnership officials met Wednesday afternoon to discuss the budget and how funds from a two-year Community Service Block Grant the group intends to seek would be spent.
CELINA - Mercer Health District's 2020 budget is set to include $2.75 million in revenue and $2.44 million in expenditures, resulting in an expected $307,427.59 surplus.
CELINA - Kennedy Newell will be a rare three-year graduate of Celina High School.
