A Rockford man was killed in vehicle rollover

WAPAKONETA - A Rockford man was killed Sunday morning when his vehicle reportedly overturned near the Mercer-Van Wert county line.
David Kimmel, 69, was pronounced deceased Sunday after his arrival at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Wapakoneta Post responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover crash near U.S. 33 at approximately 9:18 a.m. Sunday.
According to a news release, Kimmel was driving a black 2002 Buick Rendezvous westbound on U.S. 33 when he drove left of center, overcorrected and drove off the right side of the road. Kimmel reportedly attempted to drive back onto the roadway when his vehicle overturned. When his vehicle overturned, Kimmel was reportedly ejected. His vehicle came to a rest in a field south of the road.
Kimmel was transported by Rockford Emergency Medical Services to Van Wert County Hospital, and later flown to Lutheran Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the release, Kimmel was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation. Other organizations that assisted at the scene of the crash include the Rockford and Willshire fire departments, Mercer County Emergency Medical Services and Lakeshore Auto.
