ST. ANTHONY - The annual Grange strawberry supper, normally held the first week of June at the Unity Grange Hall has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the hall's tightly-packed seating, Pomona Grange President Gary Brumbaugh said in a statement.
Organizers may consider holding the event later this summer if conditions allow. If so, it will be advertised in The Daily Standard. Brumbaugh thanked the public for its support at past suppers.
ST. MARYS - Organizers have canceled the annual Memorial Day parade in the city.
"The American Legion leadership, executive board and city of St. Marys have decided it is in the best interest of all involved to cancel the annual Memorial Day parade and subsequent ceremony held at Elm Grove Cemetery scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2020," organizers said in a news release. "This was a very difficult decision to make, but in the interest of public safety as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe it is the right decision. Stay safe and we hope to see everyone next year."
