St. Marys man's body found in river
By Sydney Albert
SIDNEY - Emergency workers have retrieved the body of a St. Marys man who had been reported missing last month after a boating accident on the Great Miami River.
The body of Tyson Goubeau, 28 of St. Marys was pulled from the river on Sunday, about a half mile downstream from where the accident reportedly had occurred.
Sidney fire department and police personnel were dispatched about 2:03 p.m. Sunday to the river in the area of the 300 block of Enterprise Avenue after a kayaker reported finding a body.
The body reportedly was found about 30 feet offshore on a gravel bar. On-scene personnel reportedly requested assistance from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Shelby County coroner. The body was recovered from the river and turned over to the coroner before being transported to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office for autopsy and identification, according to a Sidney Fire Department news release.
The body is believed to be that of Goubeau. He was reported missing after an April 27 boating accident at the low-head dam near Custenborder Park.
Funeral arrangements for Goubeau are being completed by Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys.
