1 killed in ATV accident

GIBSON TOWNSHIP - A Portland, Indiana, teenager died late Friday night after striking a utility pole with a four-wheeler, according to a news release.
Mercer County Sheriff's deputies were reportedly called to Indiana-Ohio State Line Road, just north of Fox Road, at 11:55 p.m. to a report of a crash.
An initial investigation found that Jake D. Muhlenkamp, 15, had been operating a 2020 Polaris 570 four-wheeler, heading northbound on State Line Road. For an unknown reason, Muhlenkamp reportedly drove off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.
The crash is currently under investigation. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Fort Recovery fire and police departments and St. Henry EMS.
