Mathilda Stammen
Mathilda H. "Tillie" Stammen, age 91, of St. Henry, died Thursday January 21, 2021, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born May 3, 1929 in Celina, to the late William & Elizabeth (Huelskamp) Imwalle.
On Sept. 29, 1951, she married Cyril "Cy" Stammen and he died July 28, 2008.
Tillie is survived by children, Marlene & Rod Klose of New Bremen, Brenda & Bill Bohman, Fred & Darlene Stammen and Ted & Dorothy Stammen, all of St. Henry, nine grandchildren, Brandon & Karla Klose, Brent & Jackie Bohman, Betsy & Joe Wilker, Zach, Chad, and Noah Stammen, Kendra & Austin Jones, and Cody and Tyler Stammen, seven great grandchildren, and in-laws: Lois Stammen of North Star, Ruth Stammen of New Weston, Phyllis Imwalle of Dayton, and Doris Imwalle of Maria Stein, and Janet Imwalle of Troy.
In addition to her parents and husband, Tillie is preceded in death by a granddaughter, April Klose, siblings and in-laws: Armella & Joseph Baumer, Louis Imwalle, Walter& Dorothy Imwalle, Herbert & Irene Imwalle, Jean Imwalle, Richard & Martha Imwalle, Alfred Imwalle, Eugene Imwalle, Frederick Imwalle, Edward & Bernadine Stammen, Cornelius & Annamae Stammen, Carl & Ruth Stammen, Virgil & Sally Stammen, Lawrence Stammen, Margaret & Norbert Langenkamp, Coletta Stammen, Armella Stammen, Herman Stammen, Alfons Stammen, Esther Stammen, Marie & Ado Langenkamp, Delores & Joe Groff and Eulalia & Elmer Klosterman, and her father and mother-in-law Joseph and Josephine (Weis) Stammen.
She was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church. Tillie worked for Jake Buschor and later J.J. Romer's Clothing Stores in St. Henry. For the last several years Tillie enjoyed her time in the assisted living at The Gardens at St. Henry.
Mass of Christian burial following all CDC guidelines will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will follow the mass in St. Henry Cemetery.
The family would like to receive friends but due to COVID concerns the viewing will be private at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Mercer County Joint Ambulance District, in St. Henry.
