Loyd Brown
Loyd R. Brown, age 95, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
Born April 11, 1925, in Logansport, IN, he was a son of the late James H. & Eva Ralphy Brown. Loyd and Marcella Marie Diller were married on August 21, 1952, and they shared 64 years of marriage before Marie's death on December 14, 2016.
Surviving are their five children: Carol (Doug) Hoffman of Hudsonville, MI, Jerald (Caroline) Brown of Nome, AK, Ruth (Bill) Dameron of Coldwater, Jeffrey (Linda) Brown of Clare, MI, and Nancy Marie Brown Harris of Mount Pleasant, MI, 20 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife Marie, two grandchildren, and his brother, Robert Brown.
After graduating from High School, Loyd served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, and worked for many years as an Electrical Engineer at the Dow Chemical Company in Midland, MI. Loyd graduated from the Biblical Seminary in New York, where he met his wife, Marie. He and Marie studied in Belgium to learn teaching methods in the French language, and together served 2 terms, teaching a total of 51/2 years in the missions of the Belgian Congo.
While living in Midland, Loyd had been a member of Our Redeemer Church. After relocating to Coldwater, he joined Grace Missionary Church in Celina, and later the Covenant Community Church in Coldwater. Loyd was very active in the churches, having served in various capacities. Over the years, Loyd had read the Bible completely through eleven times, in ten different English translations. Loyd lived his life serving and walking with the Lord. He felt it was very important to share the Word of the Lord, and encourage others to develop a personal relationship with Christ. It was his desire that everyone know the Way to their Personal Salvation and come to Christ.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, at Covenant Community Church, 809 W. Main St., Coldwater. Pastor Eric Muhlenkamp will officiate.
Following Services at the church, Military Rites will be conducted by Coldwater American Legion Post #470, where Loyd was a member. Burial will follow at the Evangelical Mennonite Cemetery, near Bluffton, Ohio.
Calling Hours are 3:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, March 26, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, and one hour prior to time of Services on Saturday, at Covenant Community Church.
Those attending are required to wear masks, practice social distancing as much as possible, and follow the COVID-19 guidelines established by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
