Elizabeth Garke
Elizabeth "Betty" J. (Beyke) Garke, age 78, of Burkettsville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at The Gardens of St. Henry.
She was born December 17, 1942, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Jacob & Mary (Goubeaux) Beyke. On June 6, 1964, she married her husband of over 55 years James William Garke and he survives in Burkettsville.
Betty is survived by children: Mike & Julie Garke of Burkettsville, Doug & Nicki Garke of Burkettsville and Patti & Curt Rindler of Anna, 4 grandchildren Troy & Isaac Rindler and Grant & Garrett Garke. Also surviving are siblings and in-laws: Ray & Betty Beyke of Greenville, Jerry & Judy Beyke of St. Henry, Jay & Ann Beyke of St. Henry, Tom & Esther Beyke of St. Henry, Jane Beyke of Burkettsville, Dan & Deb Beyke of St. Sebastian, and Mark & Ruth Beyke of Ft. Recovery, Ray & Joan Garke, St. Henry, Janice & Mario Curci of Ft. Recovery, Barb Garke of Versailles and friend John Longfellow of Greenville, Beatrice & Kenneth Alig of Ft. Recovery, and Marceil & Roman Hemmelgarn of Ft. Recovery.
She was preceded in death by her infant son Gregory Christopher Garke, her parents, in-laws Raphael & Anna Garke, brother and sister-in-law John & Rose (Daniel) Beyke, sister and brother-in-law Mary Jo & Thomas Jansen, brother-in-law Louis E. Garke, niece Mary Ann Jansen and nephew Matthew Beyke.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, Ohio. She was member of St. Bernard Church Choir, Eucharistic Minister, money counter and Altar Rosary Sodality. She was employed at Werling & Sons, Burkettsville for 33 years. She enjoyed baking Wedding cakes for family and friends for over 25 years. Betty enjoyed playing Euchre and spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed following her grandson's sports and activities.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00 -7:00pm on Friday, June 18, and 9:00 - 10:00am Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
