Paul Hines
Paul Marshall "Mart" Hines, age 78, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at his residence.
He was born December 9, 1942, in Celina, to the late Russell & Fern (Suhr) Hines. Paul and Diana Johnson were married on September 4, 1965.
Diana survives, along with their daughters: Teresa (Dean) Wells of Huber Heights, Virginia (Tom) Kline of Rockford, and Christina (Lee) Berry of Mendon, 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers and a sister: Jim Hines of St. Marys, Larry (Gracie) Hines of Bristol, Virginia, and Gwen Bay of Dayton, Diana's sister, Sue Wenning of Rockford, and sister-in-law, Gerry Johnson of Sewickley, Pennsylvania.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Joyce Hines, sister-in-law, Phyllis Hines, brother-in-law, Robert Bay, and Diana's 2 brothers and a sister-in-law: Don Johnson and Dick & Brenda Johnson.
He was a 1960 graduate of Celina High School, and a Military Veteran, having served for 3 years with the U.S. Army. Paul retired after 33 years of employment with DP&L (Dayton Power & Light), where he worked as a Lineman and Service Representative. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #1292, Shanes Masonic Lodge #377 and American Legion Post #508 in Rockford, and Eagles Aerie #1291 and VFW Post #5713 in Celina. Paul enjoyed golfing, and in his younger days would often play 18 holes, then go out and play Slo-Pitch softball. He also participated in league bowling at the Celina and Coldwater Bowling Lanes. Paul was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes Football Teams.
Calling Hours will be held at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2, with the Funeral Service to begin at 3:00, at the Funeral Home. Pastor Jake Boroff will officiate.
Following Services, Military Rites will be conducted at the Funeral Home by members of the Celina VFW and American Legion Posts, along with the Legion Riders, who will form a Flag Line.
A Private Burial will take place at a later date at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that in Paul's memory, donations be made to: The Cancer Association of Mercer County or Community Health Professionals Hospice.
