David Lutz
David L. Lutz, 77, of Saint Marys, died 6:47 P.M. Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Saint Ritas Medical Center, Lima.
He was born November 20, 1943, in Saint Marys, the son of Charles and Alice (Schmidt) Lutz. He married Barbara Zumbroegel on July 14, 1984, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his children: Terry (Tim) Settlage of New Knoxville; Dianna Dominguez of Saint Marys; Sharon (Brian) Thiesen of Kankakee, Illinois; Jim (Terri Schaaf) Pendleton of Saint Marys; Susan (Joel) Craft of Saint Marys; Travis (Paula) Lutz of Celina; Kimberly (Mark) Koenig of New Bremen; Jason (Barbara J.) Lutz of Saint Marys. He is also survived by his 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and by his siblings: Don (Glenna) Lutz of Newark, Ohio; Ned (Pat) Lutz of Detroit; Bob Lutz of Saint Marys; by his brother-in-law, Tony Oldiges of Minster.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his siblings: Kenneth Lutz and Carol Garvin; by two great-grandchildren.
Dave was a 1961 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He served four years in the US Marine Corps and was stationed off the coast of Vietnam during the war there. He retired after 33 years of service at Goodyear Saint Marys, and later worked at Bud's Chevrolet. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys, and he liked to read, watch TV, play Scrabble and spend time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his holiday "cup art" creations that he made with styrofoam cups pushed into the fence of his home at the corner of Wayne and Jackson Streets in Saint Marys, and for his trademark suspenders that he wore daily. He had a great personality and loved to laugh!
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 17, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church, Saint Marys, the Reverend Bill Maki, officiant. Burial rites will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at Zion Lutheran Church.
