Victor Boroff
Victor R. Boroff, age 86, of New Bremen, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Elmwood Assisted Living of New Bremen.
Born on October 14, 1934, in Mendon, Union Township, he was the only child of the late Dillon C. & Vivian V. (Lampy) Boroff.
Vic is survived by his son & daughter-in-law: Brian & Anita Boroff of New Bremen, grandsons: Dillon & Ashley Boroff of Russia, and Brice Boroff of New Bremen, great grandchildren: Coralee Rose and Grayson James, his former wife, Pat Boroff, of St. Marys, step-grandchildren: Andy McMurray of Scottsdale, Arizona, Carrie & Nathan Manns of Kenton, Craig & Carrie Stachler of St. Henry, Lee & Andrea Stachler of Montezuma, and Andrea & Eric Homan of Maria Stein, and 15 step-great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Thelma Anderson Boroff, and an uncle, Victor & Alzada Lampy, and their children: Larry Joe, Vicky, and Chuck.
A 1953 graduate of Mendon-Union High School, Vic served 2 years in the U.S. Army, during which time he was stationed for 18 months in Munich, Germany. Vic had been a member of the Mendon Blue Ribbon 4-H Club for 11 years, and then served as a Club Advisor for 8 years. He was also a member of New Bremen American Legion Post #241 and Mercer Lodge #121 Free & Accepted Masons in St. Marys. Vic had farmed and milked cows for 20 years, both in rural Mendon and St. Marys. Additionally, he was employed as Store Manager for 20 1/2 years at Sherwin-Williams Paints in Celina, and later managed Big Lots stores in St. Marys, Richmond, Indiana, and Sidney for 18 1/2 years.
Over the years, some of Vic's favorite activities were showing dairy cattle and attending cattle shows. He also enjoyed fishing. A very sociable man, Vic attended many area fairs and festivals. Most of all, he greatly enjoyed visiting with the grandkids and attending their sporting events.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 7, at the Mendon First Church of God, with Pastor Rebecca Erb-Strang, officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery, with graveside military rites to be conducted by New Bremen American Legion Post #241.
Calling Hours are 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, and 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, at Mendon First Church of God.
