Roger Schmidt
Roger L. Schmidt age 81 of Anna, Ohio died at 3:25 PM on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Ohio Living Dorothy Love Nursing, Sidney. He was born on July 21, 1940 in Celina, Ohio to the late Vincent & Elvira (Ontrop) Schmidt. He married Therese Prenger on October 20, 1962 at St. Joseph Church, Egypt, Ohio. She survives in Anna.
He is also survived by children: Rita Rethman, Troy, Ohio and friend Dave Rawers, Linda Osterloh, Celina, Ohio & friend Don Rose, Jim & Renee Schmidt, Bremen, Ohio, Janet & Daryl Bowling, Tipp City, Ohio eight grandchildren: Brian Rethman, Sarah & Eric Heitkamp, Travis Osterloh, Brad Osterloh, Andrew Schmidt, Taylor Schmidt, Austin Bowling, Logan Bowling, 2 great grandchildren: Ellie Heitkamp, Clayton Heitkamp, siblings: Clete & Irene Schmidt, Rockford, Carol Schmidt, Union City, Dave & Alice Schmidt, Coldwater, Ron & Linda Schmidt, Minster, Mary Ann & Jerry Knapke, Celina, in-laws, Mary Ann Lefeld, Ralph & Ruth Prenger, Alma Meyer, Clete & Roseann Prenger and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Vincent Schmidt, Jr., infant Joseph Schmidt, in-laws: Alvina & Vernon Ahrens, Norb & Angela Prenger, Len & Mille Prenger, Ed & Mildred Prenger, Ray & Viola Schmidt, Werner & Norma Jean Prenger, Delores & Louis Meyer, Marty Lefeld, Herman Meyer.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville. Roger retired form Copeland/Emerson after being employed in the engineering department for 47 years. He served the public as an EMT with the Anna Rescue Squad for 15 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, McCartyville, and the Men's Sodality of the church. Roger was a hard worker and gave anyone the shirt off his back if needed. He enjoyed family get togethers, especially time with his grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the SACRED HEART CHURCH from 9 to 10 AM on Wednesday. Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster has been entrusted with the arrangements.
