CELINA - A New Bremen man was killed in a crash reported at 8:46 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Havemann Road and State Route 29 in Celina, after a tractor-trailer ran a red light at the intersection, according to Celina police.
Ryan M. Lageman, 25, reportedly suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys shortly after the accident, according to a Celina Police Department news release.
A preliminary investigation found Lageman was driving a 1991 Ford Ranger pickup truck southbound on Havemann Road and entered the intersection with State Route 29 on a green light. Lageman's pickup truck was struck by a westbound 2016 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Kewal Pooni, 56, Manitoba, Canada.
Pooni reportedly was not injured in the crash.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged, and neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected factors in the crash, according to the new release. Both drivers reportedly were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The crash is under investigation.
