Alice Guggenbiller
Alice C. Guggenbiller, 86, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at IU Health Jay Hospital in Portland, Indiana.
She was born on September 20, 1935, in Bradford, Ohio, to the late Alva and Ellen (Bulcher) Barga.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married on May 6, 1958, Sylvester "Ves" Guggenbiller, who died on February 13, 2018; her grandson, Vince Martyne; her 8 brothers and 4 sisters; and her 3 brothers-in-law and 4 sisters-in-law.
Alice was a graduate of Jackson High School in Union City, Ohio. She spent a majority of her life tending to her family and also worked for Sunnyside Eggs for nearly 19 years. Alice volunteered for the Darke County Board of Elections as a poll worker for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Sharpsburg and volunteered as a religion teacher for over 5 years. Alice enjoyed going bowling, fishing, playing cards, especially with her boys on Thursday night, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and most importantly, being with her family. She was a great baker and was known for her sugar cookies.
Alice is survived by her children, Jerry (Marilyn) Guggenbiller of Fort Recovery, Dave (Linda) Guggenbiller of Portland, Indiana, Deb (Tony) Martyne of Portland, Indiana, Jim (Pat) Guggenbiller of St. Peter, Ohio, and Joan (Denny) Heitkamp of Fort Recovery; her 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; and siblings, Rose Pursley of Kansas City, Kansas, and Robert (Karen) Barga of Greenville, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian of Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 20, 2021, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Sharpsburg, Ohio. Burial will follow in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Guests may visit with Alice's family on Sunday, December 19, 2021, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Monday from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.
