Edwin Dean Long, 83, of Rockford passed away after a short illness at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center on December 22, 2021.

He was born on July 10, 1938, in Rockford, the son of the late Ross and Lucille (Caywood) Long. On August 10, 1963, he married the former Karen R Collins, who passed away on December 25, 2018.

Ed was a 1956 graduate of Rockford High School. Ed worked for over 30 years at International Harvester / Navistar until retirement. After retirement, Ed worked an additional 15 years with the Parkway Local School System as a groundskeeper and bus driver. He was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church and the Shane's Aerie 1292 Fraternal Order of Eagles in Rockford. Ed was an avid fan of all Parkway athletic teams, as well as The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Cincinnati Reds.

Surviving are two daughters; Denise Long of Marion, Indiana, and Deb (Scott) Call of Rockford, and two grandchildren; Eleesha Long and Jordan Feldes.

In addition to his parents and wife, Karen, Ed was preceded in death by his brother Harry Lee Long.

Services will be held at 4:00 PM Monday, December 27, 2021, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home 111 W. First Street Rockford, OH 45882. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, 3750 US-33 Rockford, OH 45882.

Family and friends will be received from 10:00 AM to 4:00 pm on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home 111 W. First Street Rockford, OH 45882.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edwin`s memory may be sent to the Parkway Schools Athletic Department.
