Ida Lou Harrod
Ida Lou Harrod, 91, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 1:30 PM, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Wapakoneta Manor.
She was born on December 14, 1930 in Wapakoneta, to Carl and Irene Borges Long who have preceded her in death. On August 26, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, she married Francis N. Harrod, who passed away on July 5, 2007.
Survivors include her three sons, David (Colleen) Harrod, of Wapakoneta, Daniel (Peggy) Harrod, of New Bremen, and Donald (Margaret) Harrod, of Minster; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Kessen, of Coldwater and Mary Ann Garmann, of Chickasaw; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ida Lou was welcomed into Heaven by her son, Douglas Harrod; two daughters, Victoria Braun and Linda Jane Harrod; four brothers, Harold Long, Delbert Long, Gerald Long, and Charles (Marlene) Long; and two brothers-in-law, Leroy Kessen and Virgil Garmann.
Ida Lou was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Wapakoneta. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Sewing Group. Her faith was a very important aspect of her life, in addition to her family. She and her husband were inseparable during their almost 57 year marriage. After his passing, she took comfort in spoiling her growing number of grandchildren and welcoming new great-grandchildren into the family. As a homemaker, Ida Lou's work was never done. She enjoyed sewing, both at home and with her friends each week, and cooking and baking. She cherished the times that her whole family could be together, sharing a meal, or creating holiday memories with her baskets full of homemade treats. In her quiet time, Ida Lou liked to put together jigsaw puzzles and complete word search books.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. Father Jedidiah Tritle will officiate and interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Friends may call from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
