Ellen Kramer
Ellen Catherine Kramer, 93, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen, Ohio Jan. 23, 2022. She was the eighth child and last of her family.
She was born at Montezuma on Nov. 21, 1928 to the late Henry and Eleanora (Wilker) Moeller. She also had step-mothers: Mary Huber and Agnes Kramer Depweg Moeller. She married Andrew Kramer on Sept. 20, 1949. He passed away October 30, 2014.
Ellen is survived by her children: Carol and Charlie Wenning of Coldwater; Ruth Kramer of Cincinnati; Donna and Clem Kunk of Tucson, Az.; Jean and Joe Bender of Maria Stein; Anita and Brian Boroff of New Bremen; Jim and Carla Kramer of Chickasaw, 19 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and 1 on the way and 1 great-great-grandchild. She also had 113 nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her son, John in 2019, two grandsons and 1 great grandson. She was also preceded by her siblings: Alvira and Rich Boeckman, Viola and Vince Ontrop, Pete and Rita Moeller, Dorothy and Gene Schoenlein, Verena and Clete Tobe, Rich and Doris Moeller, Art and Florie Moeller. She was also preceded by her in-laws: Al and Lucy Kramer, Leon and Lucille Kramer, Ott and Rose Kramer, Agnes and Elmer Knapke, Norb and Alice Kramer, Mary Ann and Roman Severt, Helen and Charley Connolly, Werner and Marilyn Kramer, father and mother-in-law: Henry and Rosa (Holdheide) Kramer.
Ellen grew up on a farm on Guadalupe Rd. near Montezuma. She was in the eighth-grade class that was the first to graduate from the "new" Franklin School. She later graduated from Coldwater High School with the class of 1946. In her life she had worked at the Minster Box Factory, as a shop secretary at New Idea and part time at Kremer's Market in Chickasaw. She was a poll worker for elections at Chickasaw. She was also one of the people to initiate the Euchre Card Party in the Chickasaw Library basement. She was a member of the Precious Blood Parish and the Rosary Altar Sodality. She sang in the choir and was a communion distributor, volunteered at the relic chapel and supported The Right To Life. She also served communion at the hospital and was a sewing volunteer there receiving her 1,000 hour volunteer pin. But her love was taking care of her family and raising her seven children and delighting in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Ellen enjoyed dining at local restaurants, playing cards, and sewing.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2022 at The Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chickasaw. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27 and from 9:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
