Elaine Lolli
Elaine M. Lolli of Dublin, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 25th, 2022.
Elaine was born in Minster, Ohio on April 2nd, 1951.
She was preceded in death by parents, Richard P. and Edna M. Frierott (Thieman), and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Frierott (Horrigan).
Elaine is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Lolli, sons Andrew T. Lolli (Dr. Noelle Breslin) of New York, New York and Kevin P. Lolli (Jane Wilberding) of Chicago, Illinois, as well as two brothers, Anthony Frierott of Minster, Ohio and John Frierott (Jill) of South Bend, Indiana, and many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Elaine was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Powell, Ohio. Elaine worked for the Dublin City School System as a Paraprofessional for many years. After retiring, she spent the last several years substituting in the Dublin City School District. She loved reading books and her sons helped her build a blog, The EZ Book Nook , where she posted many of her book reviews. The blog was instrumental in getting her reviews published in the Columbus Dispatch, as well as internationally, in Ireland. Elaine worked with literary agents and received advance reading copies of books to review for promotional purposes. She was extremely proud of her work.
Elaine was funny and occasionally irreverent. She reserved her greatest wit for excoriating politicians and pundits. Her memory was extraordinary, but her sense of direction was abysmal. She was always early and usually anxious. With a quick temper, she held grudges, but only for a short time. She was humble when proved right and contrite when proved wrong. She wasn't the most adventurous cook, eschewing all seasoning, but curated a well-worn recipe collection. The Beatles, Motown, and the Billboard top 100 through 1970 formed the soundtrack of her life. Elaine was an avid listener of Columbus' Oldies B97 radio station for as long as it existed. In Elaine's opinion, Lennon was more interesting, McCartney was kinder, and they needed each other to make their best music. Her perfume smelled like elegance at Christmas. Her high-pitched, staccato laughter accompanied the airing of Seinfeld reruns every evening. Elaine's smile was charming, and disarming. She never needed braces, never had a cavity, and drank milk by the literal gallon. Elaine preferred a crisp white wine but wasn't above drinking a Miller Lite.
Elaine was a proud University of Dayton graduate. She lived in Marycrest Hall and later Campus South with her lifelong friends. Elaine found pleasure in lamenting Dayton's basketball disappointments, but never lost faith in the possibility of UD's victory. The youthful letters she left behind attest to the excitement, expectation, and melodramatic fear of an unknown future that only a teenager can feel. At the end of her life, Amy Schneider's success on Jeopardy tickled her pink.
After both of her two major surgeries, Elaine lionized her husband as providing the epitome of care and insisted that her children must support their partners in the same way if the need ever arose. Every morning, for over twenty years, Elaine made coffee, but was too busy caring for her family to drink it. She would reheat the coffee in the microwave, promptly forget it, and it would remain untouched as she tended to the needs of her kids. Elaine gave everything she had to her family and friends. She is missed, and so very loved.
