Madonna Vehorn
Madonna M. Vehorn, 95, of Botkins, Ohio, died 11:50 a.m., Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Otterbein-Cridersville, surrounded by her family.
She was born May 2, 1926, in Burkettsville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Antone & Elizabeth (Borgerding) Miller. On October 25, 1947, she married Herbert R. Vehorn, and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1998.
Survivors include, 5 children, Tom (Kay) Vehorn, Wapakoneta; Fred (Jane) Vehorn, Botkins, Ohio; Mary (Gary) Sweigart, Lima, Ohio; Ed (Lyn) Vehorn, Reno, Nevada; Ernie (Teri) Vehorn, Botkins, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Dottie Meiring, Minster, Ohio; Mary Miller, Cincinnati, Ohio, a brother-in-law, Sonny Meiring, Minster, Ohio numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence "Larry" Vehorn, 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
Madonna worked in the cafeteria at Botkins Schools for over 15 years. She was also a poll worker with the Shelby County Board of Elections. She was a 75-year member and active volunteer of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins. She was also a member of the former Catholic Ladies Sodality, and numerous cards clubs. Madonna was a home maker who enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, baking dozens and dozens of cookies, sewing, and playing various card games. She was fondly known for her home made popsicles that were shared with family, grandkids and neighborhood children.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 14, 2022, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins, with Fr. Sean Wilson officiating. Burial followed in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Botkins.
The family received friends 1-6 p.m., Sunday, February 13, and 9-9:45 a.m., Monday, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
