Lloyd "Red" Kuck, 86, formerly of New Knoxville, OH died on February 3, 2022, at his home at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.

He was born May 5, 1935, in Shelby County, Ohio, the son of Florenz and Hattie (Schneider) Kuck. On September 27, 1957, he married Annett Aufderhaar, who survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his granddaughter, Renae Kuck Gregg, and his two great-granddaughters, Claire and Isla, all of East Greenwich, RI. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Carol Kuck and Mary Kuck, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his only son, Douglas, his parents, and all his siblings: Homer Kuck, Wilhelmina Schrolucke, John Kuck, Norma Henschen, Edna Vornholt, Ralph Kuck, Allen Kuck, Darrell Kuck, and an infant sister.

Lloyd was a 1954 graduate of New Knoxville High School. In June 1954 he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served on active duty through mid-1956. For a number of years he worked part-time as a lineman for the New Knoxville Telephone Company and was employed by STAMCO, Inc. in New Bremen. Lloyd graduated from the Reppert School of Auctioneering, Decatur, IN, in 1961 and became a licensed auctioneer. He also earned his real estate license and worked for Bob Kuck and then William Stinebaugh until he earned his realtor's license and established "Red" Kuck Real Estate. Later he worked with Kuck Realty until his retirement.

Lloyd was a member of the New Knoxville United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and as an adviser to the senior youth fellowship in the mid-sixties and then again in the mid-seventies. He was a life member of Post 444 of the American Legion where he was a past commander. He was a founding member of the New Knoxville Historical Society and served as a trustee and president, spending many enjoyable years working with the organization.

Known only as "Red" by most, Lloyd was well known for his auctions in the area. He sold farms, farm equipment, household goods - and tea cups. He always had jokes to tell and a great sense of humor. He was known to make fellow auctioneers, buyers, and his wife the butts of his practical jokes. Some said they followed his auctions just for the entertainment. "Red" never turned down doing a benefit auction of any kind. "Red" was probably born with a love of horses - which he maintained all his life. As a kid he performed daredevil stunts on horses and participated in home grown rodeos in the area. Horse racing was his passion as an adult. He moved from attending races to owning race horses. He bred, raised, broke, trained, and raced trotters, and an occasional pacer, for many years. Friends and family followed his races, hoping to get their picture taken in the winner's circle. Finally he co-owned a thoroughbred race horse.

Lloyd's life will be remembered and celebrated on Sunday March 13 at the American Legion Hall in New Knoxville. Friends may call from noon to 2:30 PM.

A service of celebration will be held at 3:00 PM with Ruth Card Ramsey in charge. Burial, with full military funeral honors, will take place on Saturday March 12, for family and friends at the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.
