Chuck Zimmerman
Chuck Zimmerman, age 87 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Shane Hill in Rockford.
He was born on September 7, 1934, to the late Charles B. and Petronella (Valas) Zimmerman in Chicago, IL. On October 3, 1970, he married Opal Jeanette Fetters, who passed away on June 16, 2021.
He is survived by his son Steve Cieslewicz of Chicago, IL, a step daughter Teresa (Gregory) Harris of Grove City and a step daughter-in-law Sandy Kruger of Lewis Center, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, his niece Colleen Lesniewski of Chicago, IL and nephew and caregiver Todd (Mindy) Kovar of Celina. He is also survived by his wife's siblings George "Dick" Fetters of Montpelier, Ronnie (Becky) Fetters of Celina, Pamela Kovar of Hillard and step-sister-in-law Alphie Sowders of Cincinnati.
He is preceded in death by parents, wife, two step-son Gregory Kruger, Douglas Kruger and sister Geraldine (John) Cody, and his wife's siblings Rex Fetters, Jerry Fetters, Judy Martin, sister-in-law Rita Jean Fetters and step brother Herschel Sowders.
Charles graduated from Evergreen Park Community High School in Illinois, with the class of 1948. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force From 1952 until He was Honorably Discharged in 1954. He was formerly employed as a truck driver at Signal Delivery Service, delivering for Sears over 35 years and had a perfect driving record without a single accident.
He was a member of the Celina American Legion Post #210 and the Landfair United Methodist Church. Chuck enjoyed riding his motor cycle for many years and maintaining his yard, garden and growing roses. He rescued a total of seven Doberman in his life time and loved them all especially "Molly."
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Lehman Dzendzel Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in Mercer Memory Gardens Cemetery in Celina, with Military Honors provided by the Celina American Legion Post #210 and the Celina V.F.W. Post #5713.
Friends and family may call from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. Memorial contributions may be made to the Celina American Legion Post #210, 2510 State Route 703, Celina, Ohio 45822.
