Emily Leonhard
Emily Howell Leonhard, 98, of St. Marys, died 11:55 P.M. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 30, 1923, in St. Marys, the daughter of Adrian "Hap" and Grace (Langsdon) Howell. She married Paul Leonhard, Sr. on February 20, 1943; he preceded her in death on April 22, 2004.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Annette Leonhard of the Villages, Florida; by her grandchildren: Melissa (Dave) Dues of Highland, Michigan; Nicole (Dan) Burns of Troy, Ohio; Christian (Amanda) Leonhard, Sr. of Troy. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Ashton Riley; Kearston Riley, Payton Riley; Noah Dues; Alexa Dues; Julia Leonhard. She is survived by her sisters: Gloria Spicer of St. Marys; Marilyn (Luke) Gibbens of St. Marys; by her sister-in-law, Judy Howell of Fort Myers, Fla.; her brother-in-law, John Leonhard of St. Paris, Ohio; by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter: Vicki Market; her son, Paul Leonhard, Jr.; her sister, Donna Haines; her brother, Ronald Howell; her great-grandson, Christian Leonhard, Jr.
Emily was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She, along with her husband Paul, were the owner/operators of Leonhard's IGA in St. Marys for many years. She was the oldest member of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys and a member of Hawthorne Chapter #119, Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed her card club, attending live musical performances and Friday luncheons at the bowling alley with her family and friends. Above all, Emily cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys, the Reverend Bill Maki, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, St. Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to either the Auglaize County Humane Society or Zion Lutheran Church.
