Roger Niekamp
Roger S. Niekamp, 75, of Montezuma, OH passed peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022 surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 6, 1946 to the late Sylvester and Anna (Homan) Niekamp.
On May 2, 1970 he was blessed to marry his wife Carol (Post) of 51 years, who survives.
Roger is also survived by his three sons Gregg and Kelli (Buschur) Niekamp of Montezuma, Steve and Ruth (Hite) of Montezuma, Kevin and Becky (Rogier) of Wapakoneta, and a daughter Susan and Mark Buschur of St. Henry. Also surviving are his 12 grandchildren: Kylie and Austin Niekamp, Avery and Ashtyn Niekamp, Zac, Drew, and Tate Niekamp, and Alexis, Emma, Adalyn, Xavier, and Aidan Buschur.
He is also survived by his two sisters: Margie and the late Alfred Rose of Coldwater, Alice and Carl Balster of St. Henry.
Preceding in death are his mother and father-in-law Ralph and RoseAnn Post, his in-law's Ken and Connie Post, Monique Post, Joseph Post, and Dave Mescher.
Other survivors include: Dave and Nancy Post of Fairfax, VA, Ron and Nancy Krugh of Mendon, Larry and Dianne Post of Maria Stein, Bill and Betty Tobe of St. Henry, Alice Mescher of St. Henry, Ken and Deb Puthoff of St. Henry, Mike and Diana Ahlers of St. Henry, Mike and Jo Post of St. Henry, Don and Linda Post of St. Henry, Ann Post of St. Henry, and Kevin and Brenda Nagel of Maria Stein, and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was a member of The Lady of Guadalupe Church in Montezuma where he was a past officer of the Holy Name Society, and a past member of the Parish Council. He graduated in 1964 from Celina Senior High School. He then went to serve in the United States Army Reserve and worked at Crown Equipment and New Idea. Roger had always been a lifetime farmer and was a coach for the Montezuma Ducks for several years and active in the development of Montezuma Park. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. One could always find Roger out riding his Gator or giving his grandchildren tractor rides. He was a loving father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren in their different activities.
Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 pm on Wednesday and from 9 to 10 am Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
