Donald Bruns
Donald Charles "Donnie" Bruns, 74 years old, passed over to his new Life on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Briarwood Village in Coldwater, where he resided for many years.
He was born on February 19, 1948 in Celina to the late Urban and Bertha (Wenning) Bruns, one of six children.
Donnie was born profoundly handicapped. While he couldn't think or speak like other children when he was little, it didn't stop him from impacting lives. Donnie's spontaneous, ornery, and memorable "gut giggle" endeared him to many people, often making them giggle too, even on a dismal day. And though he was no stranger to mischief, in his mom and dad's eyes Donnie could do no wrong. God surely feels the same way about him since Donnie was not capable of purposely offending the Lord like the rest of us do.
In his adult life Donnie became blind and couldn't walk. While he was dependent on the help of caregivers, he continued to bring out self-less agape love and kindness in many people around him. Donald "Donnie" Bruns fulfilled his life's mission, according to the Father's design.
Donnie Bruns is survived by brothers Jim (Marg) Bruns and Ken Bruns both of Coldwater, by his sister Ruth (John) Peters of Versailles, sister-in-law Judy Bruns of Coldwater and also by eight nieces and nephews.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, an older brother Paul and his infant sister Cindy.
A private family service will be held at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater on Tuesday, May 10, at 10 a.m. Donnie's family would like to thank the staff at Briarwood Village for the compassionate and excellent care that he received there.
Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
