Joseph J. Baumer age 89 of Minster, Ohio died on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Heritage Manor, Minster, Ohio.

He was born on February 2, 1933 in Minster to the late Ben G. & Alice (Hoying) Baumer. He married Virginia "Ginny" Tumbusch on October 22, 1955 in Cassella, Ohio. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2020.

He is survived by children: Tim & Marge Baumer, Minster, Lynne & Mark Heitbrink, Minster, 6 grandchildren: Karissa & Austin Kaylor, Andrew & Ellen Baumer, Austin & Sarah Baumer, Allan & Lauren Heitbrink, Aaron & Ashley Heitbrink, Ben & Hannah Heitbrink, 16 grandchildren: Carson, Addie, Asher, Ainsley, Grayson, Isaac, Eve, Reese, Shay, Faye, Kip, Boden, Ava, Kaylee, Emma, & Harper. He is also survived by siblings: Viola Clausen, Dayton, Roman & Joan Baumer, Minster, Marvin & Connie Baumer, North Royalton.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and FOE #1391, all in Minster. He was a veteran of the US Army; he was part of the Minster Firing Squad with the role of folding the flag. For about 40 years, Joe was the manager of Community Lanes. He loved his involvement with all of the bowlers over the years. Joe enjoyed being part of the Minster Athletic Boosters supporting the Wildcats and watching his grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial with full military honors will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery Minster.

Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, June 10, 2022.
