Darlene Poeppelman
After a short fight with melanoma of the liver, Darlene A. Poeppelman, age 66, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away peacefully on July 9, 2022 at her residence with her family at her side.
She was born on October 12, 1955 in Coldwater, Ohio to the late Basil and Ida Pease. She was married to Ron Poeppelman on January 11, 1975 for over 47 years. He survives and still lives in Greenwood, Indiana.
Also surviving are her two sons; Ryan (Laura) of Greenwood and Craig of Greenwood, four grandchildren; Hayden, Leah, Trevor and Trent. Also, her sister Joan Muhlenkamp of Coldwater, Ohio, two brothers Bill Pease of Celina, Ohio and Gene Pease of Sebastian, Florida. Sister-in laws Jane Pease of Celina, Ann Pease of Celina, Darlene Pease of Sebastian. In-laws Margene and Stanley (Skip) Breen of Clare, Michigan, Carol and Robert Kegg of The Villages, Florida, Marilyn Keltner of Gardner, Kansas, Shirley Bernard of St. Marys, Ohio, James Poeppelman and partner Wanda Moreo of Celina, Joan and Jerry Kessen of Coldwater, Judy and Charlie Salway of Celina. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Basil and Ida Pease, her brother Dan Pease, brother-in-law Mark Muhlenkamp, parents-in-law Norbert and Pauline Poeppelman, brother-in-law Ken Keltner, brother-in-law Mike Bernard, brother-in-law John Poeppelman and sister-in-law Mary Poeppelman.
She graduated from Celina High School with the Class of 1974. She raised two wonderful sons and ran her own daycare in Chesterton, Indiana for over 25 years. She felt privileged to be part of so many children's lives which brought so much joy to her own life. In many ways she felt like she was a second mother to these children and their families became lifelong friends.
After moving to Greenwood, she continued to have a huge role in children's lives by being very active with her four grandchildren. She enjoyed caring for them before school, going to their sporting events and other activities. She loved spending time with family and friends as well as all outdoor activities including hiking and gardening. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chesterton, Indiana for close to 40 years before moving to Greenwood, Indiana where she was a member of SS. Francis and Clare Catholic Church in Greenwood, Indiana.
Visitation at Immaculate Conception Church, Celina, Ohio from 9 am to 10 am on Monday, July 18. The praying of the Rosary will begin at 10 am with a mass service following at 10:30 am. Burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery immediately after mass.
