Earl Dicke
Earl Louis Dicke, age 84, of New Bremen, died July 17, 2022, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.
He was born April 18, 1938 in New Bremen, Ohio, to the late Louis & Viola (Fricke) Dicke. On June 29, 1963 he married Emma (Francis) Dicke at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio and she survives in New Bremen.
Earl is survived by children: Edna & John Backs of Coldwater, Ellen & Steve Klosterman of Coldwater, Ernest Dicke of Los Angeles, California, Eric Dicke of New Bremen, and Elaine & Marty Henry of Delaware, Ohio. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Ashley & Alex Bilen, Tyler Backs & Fiancee' Renee Lange, Jordan Klosterman, Megan & Tucker Laux and Brooke & Mitch Clune; 1 great-grandchild, Augustine Clune; and siblings and in-laws: Charlotte & James Rank of Maryland, Rebecca & Larry Bruggeman of Maria Stein, Ida Spangler of Sidney, Debbie Francis of Versailles, Henrietta Spaugy of Conover, and Victoria Freisthler of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by son: Elmer Dicke; siblings and in-laws: Dorothy & Richard Koeper, Beverly Dicke, Ed & Shirley Dicke, Barb & Paul Grieshop, Henry Spangler, and Arthur Francis. Earl is also preceded by mother and father-in-law Charles & Louise Francis.
Earl was a longtime painter and decorator for Hoffman Decorating. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. He was also a member of the German Farmers Mutual Insurance Board of Directors, American Legion Post 241, the Franklin Township Zoning Board, the Mercer County Senior Fair Board and the Mercer County Extension Advisory Committee. Earl spent many years working with the Mercer County 4-H programs serving on the 4-H Committee and as an advisor of the Buckeye 88's 4-H Club. He also enjoyed many years throwing horseshoes with the Chickasaw League.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery, Chickasaw.
Friends may call from 3-7pm Thursday, July 21 and from 9-10 am on Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
